Sunday's Message - 01/23/2011

This Sunday's message continues on last week's study in the book of James.

James 5:13-20 ¹³ Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. ¹⁴ Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. ¹⁵ And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. ¹⁶ Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. ¹⁷ Elijah was a human being, even as we are. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. ¹⁸ Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. ¹⁹ My brothers and sisters, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, ²⁰ remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

PRAY!

If we take a closer look at this scripture we have to take notice as to what we are being asked to do. If we are in trouble, we should PRAY. The word does not tell us to "quote scripture", "read someone's book" or even "read the word", but to PRAY.

Next the scripture asks: "Is any sick among you?" This sickness can be described as MENTAL, PHYSICAL, or SPIRITUAL. The saints need to realize that the church is the hospital for sick people. The scripture tells the sick person to "call" for the elders. The individual must first realize that he or she is not well. The act of calling is vital.

Romans 10:12-14 ¹² For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, ¹³ for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” ¹⁴ How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?

As a Christian, it is key to confess to those that are able to get a prayer through. The question becomes: Can people have that much power? Take Elijah for example. He is an example of an ordinary man that was used extraordinarily by God.

Prayer and Praise

PRAYER

Elijah was an ordinary human being, just as we are and after he prayed God did not let it ran for three and a half years. Christians have lost the art of prayer and are simply not praying enough.

" NO PRAYER NO POWER. LITTLE PRAYER LITTLE POWER. MUCH PRAYER MUCH POWER."

We need to get back to the basics. Saints of God knew this a long time ago. Like Jesus, they prayed to God all night, until they received a break through. God still longs for a people that want to spend time with him. TITHE your time. Without obedience the saint does not have much of prayer life.

God’s word says: The effectual fervent prayer of a RIGHTEOUS man (not unrighteous). Sometimes God does not answer prayers because those that are praying need to get in right standing with God. We will see the difference when the power of prayer is going forward. If we want to see deliverance in the lives of our friends and family members, we have to PRAY.

PRAISE

When the prayers have been prayed, then the praises can GO forth. The word of God advises us to sing spiritual songs. Songs inspired by the Holy Ghost. Let God inspire you how to give thanks to Him. We do not have to stick to the conventions of the songs on the Christian/Gospel Radio Station to praise the Lord with.

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX SAINTS.

Become inspired. Sing God’s word.

Scriptural Thought for the Day - Luke 1:26-38 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name is JESUS. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing shall be impossible. 38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Believing in the virgin birth is critical to the Christian Faith. It is vital to not let anyone undermine the fact that Jesus was born of a virgin, without sin.

Today's Message - 10/10/2010

Scriptural Thought for the Day: John 3:16 - 21 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

God's love for all mankind is unmeasurable. We have to ask ourselves if we really believe (trust in, cling to, and rely on) the Lord. If people trust the Lord like they say they do, why is it so hard for them to live and do what is right? It is plain and simple, humans would rather trust in other humans rather than in God. If only we would realize that God's Word is true, and has been since the beginning of time. His Word is unchanging but has the power to change the lives of those that show and demonstrate slightest amount of faith in Him. Man's laws and rules are subject to change based on popularity amongst the masses, but God is the same yesterday, today and forever more. Let us all therefore strive to please God with the lives we live for Him.

St. Luke 11:5-13 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? 7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. 8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. 9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Of if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy spirit to them that ask him?

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK HIM! There is something about HUMILITY. The question becomes: Do you really want the Holy Spirit in your life? People ask for their own conveniences. Their agenda is to be blessed with this and that, and to "receive the desires of their heart". God gives us the Holy Spirit in our lives to SET the agenda. His agenda is HOLY LIVING.

Teacher Betty J. Clark was our speaker today. She brought an amazing message concerning the faith of the believers.

Revelation 12: 7-11 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out 4with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

LOVING ONE ANOTHER

Scriptural Thought for the Day- St. John 13:31-35 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. 32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him. 33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you. 34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Verse of Emphasis: St. John 13:35 (Amplified Version) By this all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves].
