Sunday's Message - 12/05/2010

Scriptural Thought for the Day - Luke 1:26-38 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, 27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary. 28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. 29 And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. 30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name is JESUS. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. 36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. 37 For with God nothing shall be impossible. 38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Believing in the virgin birth is critical to the Christian Faith. It is vital to not let anyone undermine the fact that Jesus was born of a virgin, without sin.

Today's Message - 10/10/2010

Scriptural Thought for the Day: John 3:16 - 21 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

God's love for all mankind is unmeasurable. We have to ask ourselves if we really believe (trust in, cling to, and rely on) the Lord. If people trust the Lord like they say they do, why is it so hard for them to live and do what is right? It is plain and simple, humans would rather trust in other humans rather than in God. If only we would realize that God's Word is true, and has been since the beginning of time. His Word is unchanging but has the power to change the lives of those that show and demonstrate slightest amount of faith in Him. Man's laws and rules are subject to change based on popularity amongst the masses, but God is the same yesterday, today and forever more. Let us all therefore strive to please God with the lives we live for Him.

Today's Message - 10/03/2010

St. Luke 11:5-13 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him? 7 And he from within shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. 8 I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. 9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Of if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy spirit to them that ask him?

ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ASK HIM! There is something about HUMILITY. The question becomes: Do you really want the Holy Spirit in your life? People ask for their own conveniences. Their agenda is to be blessed with this and that, and to "receive the desires of their heart". God gives us the Holy Spirit in our lives to SET the agenda. His agenda is HOLY LIVING.

ASK.

Today's Message- 06/13/2010

DO NOT BE SHAKEN!

Teacher Betty J. Clark was our speaker today. She brought an amazing message concerning the faith of the believers.

Scripture for the Day: II Thessalonians 2:1-11 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. 5 Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? 6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. 7 For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way. 8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: 9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, 10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. 11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrightousness.

Revelation 13:5-8 And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. 6 And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. 7 And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations. 8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Revelation 12: 7-11 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, 8 And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven. 9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out 4with him. 10 And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night. 11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

Today's Message- 06/06/2010

LOVING ONE ANOTHER

Scriptural Thought for the Day- St. John 13:31-35 Therefore, when he was gone out, Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him. 32 If God be glorified in him, God shall also glorify him in himself, and shall straightway glorify him. 33 Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say to you. 34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Verse of Emphasis: St. John 13:35 (Amplified Version) By this all [men] know that you are My disciples, if you love one another [if you keep on showing love among yourselves].

Sunday's Message- 02/07/2010

Today's message was in line with the teaching on the Holy Ghost Series. It is so vital for the believer to have a total understanding of the workings of the Spirit of God. He is the Comforter that Jesus spoke of and that He has sent back to indwell the believers.

Quench not the spirit.

Ephesians 5:14-24 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. 15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men. 16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 19 Quench not the Spirit. 20 Despise not prophesyings. 21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil. 23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.

Do not extinguish, put out, or smother the spirit. The term "quenching" does not necessarily mean that you eliminate the Spirit, but you keep it from doing what it is suppose to do. When you quench the Holy Spirit, you let everything else that does not honor God to come first.

Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

It is quite natural to be fleshly. No one has to strive to be a "fleshly" person. The key is to just not be spiritual. You have to strive to be spiritual by keeping your mind on God.

Sunday's Message- 01/31/2010

Today's message was found in the book of Ephesians, as we continue to delve into the teachings on the Holy Ghost Series.

Ephesians 4:17-30 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: 19 Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; 21 If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus: 22 That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 25 Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another. 26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let no the sun go down upon your wrath: 27 Neither give place to the devil. 28 Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. 29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. 30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Sunday's Message - 01/24/2010

Today's message is an eye-opening one, still in line with the Holy Ghost Series. God's word shows in detail the vitality of truly receiving the Holy Spirit into our lives.

Scriptural Thought for the Day: Galatians 5:13-26 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. 14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou Shalt love thy neighour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed on of another. 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are: Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Today Pastor Curtis Clark, Sr. discussed the ways in which one knows if they have truly received the Spirit of God into their lives. God gives us his spirit when we receive Jesus into our hearts. It is up to us to actually grow in knowledge of, accept and allow the working of the Holy Ghost in our lives. So many times it has been brought out that we could be a millionaire and live like a pauper. So it is with the Holy Spirit. God has given us a gift, the Holy Ghost, a counselor, helper, intercessor, advocate, strengthener, and standby. Yet people attempt to make it without Him, which is not possible. Vital for the saint is also to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and how God uses his Spirit to led his people.

Today was the fourth Sunday, which is Youth Sunday. On Youth Sunday we give the youth of The Power of God Church an opportunity to share. The following is a compilation of what was shared. (Special thanks to Sis. T. Hill)

St. Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
You have to believe that God will bless you with what you have prayed for. You also have to remember the our prayers are not our Christmas List.
-Bro. C. Clark, Jr.

Psalms 111:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.
When you are saved, you have to build yourself on the Word of God. Keeping secrets in our lives will cause us to fall. You have to make sure your foundation is planted firmly in God.
-Sis. E. Clark

Amos 9:1-4 I saw the Lord standing upon the altar: and he said, Smite the lintel of the door, that the posts may shake: and cut them in the head, all of them: and I will slay the last of them with the sword: he that fleeth of them shall nto flee away, and he that escapeth of them shall not be delivered. 2 Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them: though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down: 3 And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them: 4 And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good.
If you do not do what is right it will catch up with you. God will only give you so many chances to do right. Do not let it be too late.
-Bro. L. Bell

Life with Jesus
A poem by Sis. T. Hill

Pure hearted and pleasantly,
Stand the saint who will agree,
Life with Jesus is
full of Peace.

Calmly swinging on the vine,
Sits a child with God
in mind.
Life with Jesus is
quite devine.

Life with Jesus is good everyday!

Bro. D. Moore shared a letter he wrote in the form of a poem. He made us realize that the when the memory of our loved ones continue to live on in our memory, we become their legacy.

Sunday's Message - 01/17/2010

This week's lesson is the second in the Holy Ghost Series. There are many that do not even know that accepting the Holy Spirit is necessary for one's spiritual walk.

Scriptural Thought for the Day:
Acts 19:2 He Said unto them, Have ye recieved the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

The truth is there are those that know that receiving the Holy Ghost is vital but refuse to accept it. People hide behind the fact that the Holy Spirit "does not make any sense" and begin to "Create God in their own image", pretending God did not send to us the Comforter.

Romans 8:9-11 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. 11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by the Spirit that dwelleth in you.

John 20:20-22 And when he had so said, he shewed unto them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. 21 Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

How do we know we have received?

John 14:15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.

Sunday's Message- 01/10/2010

Today's message marks the beginning of the Holy Spirit Series!!!

Teacher Betty J. Clark brought yet another soul-stirring, inspirational message on this Sunday. The message was discussing the issues of "Sweeping".

Scriptural Thought for the day: St. Luke 11:25, 26, And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. 26 Then goeth he, and taketh to hi seven other spirits more wicked then himself; and they enter in, and dwelleth there: and the latter state of that man is worse than the first.

Acts 2:37 - 43 Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. 40 And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. 41 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. 42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

Sunday's Message 01/03/2010

FIRST SUNDAY OF 2010!!!

Scriptural Thought for the Day: Phillipians 3:1-16, Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things to you, to me indeed is not grievous, but for you it is safe. 2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision. 3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. 4 Though I might also have confidence in the flesh. If any other man thinketh that he hath whereof he might trust in the flesh, I more: 5 Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee; 6 Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. 7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings being made conformable unto his death; 11 If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. 12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, 14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of the God in Christ Jesus. 15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you. 16 Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.

FORGETTING AND PRESSING

The truth is you can not change your past, things that have been done, can not be undone. We have to forget these things and let them go. It is possible for your past deeds to still control your present actions. You can use the same rock as a stepping stone or a stumbling block. When God forgives you for something you have done, he does not hold it against you anymore.
Pressing means that you will be persecuted. When you decide to do what is right towards the mark of the high calling people are going to persecute you. When you are pressing you have to lay aside every weight and every sin that so easily beset you and run the race. The way to get the victory is to keep ALL sin out. All unrighteousness is sin. The truth is we do not have to do this on our own. The key is knowing how to let go and let God.

I John 1:6-10 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship on with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
I John 2 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world. 3 and Herby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. 4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

This scripture is commonly misquoted and taken as a license to sin. This is highly inaccurate because "Walking as Jesus walked" meaning to walk without sin, just as Jesus did.

Sunday's Message 12/27/2009

This Sunday was the fourth Sunday of December (Youth Sunday) and we welcome sharing from the various youth, followed by the main message brought from Pastor Curtis Clark, Sr.

Scriptural Thought for the Day: St. Matthew 2: 1, 2, 11, Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, 2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. 11 And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh.

After the wise men had been searching for what is thought to be two years the men after finding Jesus fell down and worshipped him. We need to get down and truely worship God. How do we worship God?

St. John 4: 21-24 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

We have to realize that God is worthy to be worshipped. The wise men knew who Jesus was and what he came to do. The only way that we will understand and know who God is through the spirit of God existing inside of us. We have to be reminded of who God and the Holy Spirit is, and what it really means to be saved, sanctified, and received the gift of the Holy Ghost:

II Timothy 1:6-7 Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

God did not give us the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit of power and of boldness. The Holy Spirit is God Almighty that has come to indwell the believers. We have to realize that we have the option to not cower at our oppositions. The same God that hung the moon and stars in the sky is on the inside of us. Who are we to be so fearful? Sometimes when we get in situations we always feel like we have to do "something" instead of trusting God...Saying, "Well I have to do something." The power is in the ability to do nothing, to simply wait on the Lord to move. The wise men set a great example, they just kept following until God showed them were the Son of God was.

II Timothy 1: 8 Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God; 9 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, 10 But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: 11 Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. 12 For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. 13 Hold fast the form of sound words, which though hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. 14 That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

We need the power of the Holy Ghost to be stirred up on the inside. Do you have the Power, the love, the sound of mind on the inside? We have to stand with the power against sin. We were not given the spirit of timidity. A lot of us are not willing to suffer...we want to stay in good with everyone and not speak up against the wrong that people are doing. It is better stay in with God and let man distance themselves from you then to be close to man and have God keep his distance from you. Please God and God alone.
